Saturday afternoon. Alone at home. Just killing time till I have to jump in the shower. I’m going to a photography exposition here in SF (San Francisco), about photography and skateboarding. Never been a hard core skater, I have gone through couple of boards back on my day but at some point I parted ways with it till way later in life. That was a bad idea … But that is a whole other story.
16:30 Showered, got dressed, about to leave. I was going to grab my camera as I always do but I got stopped on my tracks. Bringing a camera to a photo expo? Hummmm …What a cliche. Should I? Fuck I always carry a camera, even when I’m doing a grocery run. So why not today? Ok, I’ll go low key. So I grabbed my “low key/top performance” set. How did that sound? Awesome, right? Well it nothing too fancy. Here it is.
Except for the charger, that by the way doesn’t fit in the pouch, that is my “low key” setting. When traveling, like in the previous post in mexico, the charger stays in the hotel and the pouch hangs on my belt loop with the GR, with a battery and the memory card inside, and the two spare batteries. If I’m doing a lot of shooting I might use two batteries in a day max. The third one is for peace of mind.
So, I took that set with me hanging on my belt loop and of to the exposition. This allow me to forget I’m caring a camera, have my pockets empty (the GR fits in the back pocket of my jeans if I need to), and be always ready if the occasion arise.
When I arrived I found that outside the exposition, in a basketball court, the organisers setted up couple quarter pipes and couple more things to have people skating. Thank god I decided to bring my camera because otherwise I’d be so bummed not being able to take any photo. And that is why I always bring a camera with me.
